Types of Savings Accounts

  • Share Accounts
The credit union share is the most common form of saving in a credit union. This account pays a dividend annually and you have 100% access to any savings not pledged against an outstanding loan.  Qualifying savings in a Share account can benefit from FREE Life Savings Insurance of up to €12,700 per member.  DIRT tax is payable on all dividends earned, unless you are an exempt member who has completed a DE1 form.
  • Cucash Accounts
Savings in a Cucash account are available to members even when repaying a loan as they are not ‘pledged’ savings.  Cucash accounts do not earn an annual dividend or interest.
